What is Lifecasting?
Lifecast sculpture is an exact replication of the human form. Precise impressions of face or hands are taken and cast in resin or architectural stone. Pigments of bronze, gold, copper or pewter are applied giving the sculpture a metal finish without the cost of metal.
All sculptures are cast in resin or architectural stone. Finishes are proprietary metal oxides, acids and sealants. All castings are by appointment.
Now you can commission and own a unique sculpture of family or friends for your home or as a treasured gift at a truly affordable cost. Lifecast sculpture captures moments in time and will serve as keepsakes and priceless heirlooms for generations to come.
Cynthia Phillips Wood is a sculpture artist living in Dallas. The ancient art of lifecasting has been the focus of her work for the past 20 years. Articles featuring her art have appeared in the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Post and other periodicals. Her work is featured in corporate and public venues, such as Southwest Airlines Corporate offices, the Richardson Independent School District, area restaurants and scores of private collections throughout the southwest U.S . and Canada.
My mission as an artist is to create sculptural pieces that reflect the subject in an actual moment in time. I want my clients and subjects to be able to see, feel and hold the pieces and know that they are exact copies of their loved one, not just a photograph or painting. And while both mediums are wonderful treasures, I believe lifecast sculpture offers another dimension of remembrance...a three dimensional heirloom, if you will!
Lifecasting has been my primary medium for the past twelve years. I gravitate to it because it brings me indescribable joy to replicate a fellow being in a natural state and present the results. I've cast families, babies, corporate heads, newlyweds, pro athletes, musicians, doctors, chefs, broadcasters and politicians...and all have responded to the work with awe and appreciation. I am blessed to love my work and this art form.
